Chicago-based startup Yella approached me to help them build their websites and mobile app, and to design marketing materials to promote what was a really great idea.
Working with a logo designed by Sean Farrell, I helped the guys at Yella treat it well, creating style guideline, website design, an application for iOS, user experience materials, newsletters and print materials which were printed in their millions & circulated around universities & towns. While working for Yella, I created more than dozen iterations of a single piece of marketing material in order to help the team prepare as well as possible.
Working closely with Yella, I requested various illustrations of how the onboarding process of the application might work, but after trying a few outsourced professionals, I eventually decided to handle the process myself. A deep understanding of the product is essential to the design process, and this is not always possible when working with providers external to the project.
